Description

6′ x 7′ Kundel ShoreLite Lite Aluminum Trench Box

The Kundel ShoreLite Lite 6′ x 7′ aluminum trench box is a lightweight, modular protective system designed for utility repairs, service connections, localized excavation work, and maintenance projects where crews need a 6-foot shield height and additional longitudinal working room.

This configuration uses 6-foot-high, 7-foot-long aluminum panels with a 2.5-inch profile. The complete system has a listed weight of approximately 760 lbs, providing contractors and municipalities with a portable alternative to many conventional steel trench shields.

The ShoreLite Lite system uses a modular, pin-less connection design intended to simplify assembly and disassembly. Individual components are designed for two-person assembly in suitable conditions, while balanced four-point rotating rigging assists with lifting and positioning the assembled system using properly rated equipment.

This box provides 18 inches of pipe clearance and an 840 PSF panel capacity. Its listed maximum depth ratings are 33 feet in Type A soil, 18 feet in Type B soil, and 14 feet in Type C soil. All ratings and configurations must be verified using the applicable Kundel tabulated data.

Key Benefits & Crew Efficiency

  • 6-Foot Shield Height: Provides increased vertical coverage compared with the 3-foot-high ShoreLite Lite configurations.
  • 7-Foot Panel Length: Provides the most longitudinal working room among the 5-foot, 6-foot, and 7-foot ShoreLite Lite panel lengths listed in the Iron Lot catalog.
  • Lightweight Aluminum Construction: The approximately 760-pound listed weight makes this system easier to transport and position than many steel trench boxes of comparable dimensions.
  • Pin-Less Panel Connections: Kundel’s connection design reduces reliance on loose assembly pins and helps streamline setup and disassembly.
  • Two-Person Component Assembly: Individual modular components are designed so a two-person crew can assemble the system in suitable conditions.
  • Modular System Design: Compatible panels, connectors, spreaders, legs, and accessories may be combined into different heights and two-, three-, or four-sided configurations as permitted by the manufacturer.
  • Balanced Lifting Arrangement: Four-point rotating rigging helps balance the assembled trench box during lifting and placement with properly rated equipment.
  • Portable Storage and Transportation: The system can be disassembled into individual components for storage and transportation between jobsites.
  • 840 PSF Panel Capacity: Provides manufacturer-listed panel capacity for compatible utility, maintenance, and excavation applications.
  • 18-Inch Pipe Clearance: Provides clearance beneath the spreader area for compatible pipe, conduit, valves, service connections, and utility components.

Pricing & Logistics

Contact Iron Lot to confirm current pricing, availability, included components, compatible spreader widths, optional accessories, and shipping costs.

Included Components and Accessories

The exact contents of a ShoreLite Lite quote should be confirmed before ordering. Spreaders, spreader adjusters, leg kits, square connectors, stacking components, rigging, wheel kits, and other attachments may be priced or sold separately depending on the selected configuration.

The components required for a complete system depend on the desired inside width, number of protected sides, assembled height, excavation dimensions, and intended shielding or shoring application.

Freight and Delivery Coordination

The modular aluminum construction allows the system to be broken down into individual components for transportation and storage. The vehicle, trailer, securement method, unloading plan, and lifting equipment must still be appropriate for the complete shipment.

The listed system weight may vary with the selected spreader width, connectors, rigging, legs, and other accessories. Confirm the final equipment and shipping weight when requesting a quote.

Iron Lot can coordinate delivery to your contractor yard, municipal facility, equipment location, or jobsite.

Target Applications

The ShoreLite Lite 6′ x 7′ is primarily suited to localized excavations where a 6-foot shield height and 7-foot panel length provide adequate space for the planned utility or maintenance work.

Typical applications may include:

  • Water-service repairs
  • Sewer-service repairs
  • Gas-service connections
  • Electrical and telecommunications work
  • Utility tie-ins and service taps
  • Curb-stop and valve access
  • Localized utility exposure
  • Pipe, conduit, and fitting repairs
  • Spot repairs in streets and easements
  • Emergency utility maintenance
  • Bore and receiving pits where the dimensions are suitable
  • Excavations in congested or restricted-access areas

The 7-foot panel length provides more longitudinal working room than the 5-foot and 6-foot ShoreLite Lite configurations. This additional space may be useful when the work involves compatible pipe sections, fittings, valves, tools, rigging, utility connections, or crew movement.

The longer configuration also requires more excavation length and positioning room. Contractors should consider pavement limits, existing utilities, traffic-control restrictions, structures, landscaping, and equipment access before selecting this size.

Suitability depends on the dimensions and locations of the pipe, fitting, valve, conduit, utility component, structure, tools, and equipment used during the work. Customers should verify that the 18-inch pipe clearance and selected inside width provide sufficient working room.

Modular ShoreLite Lite System

ShoreLite Lite is a modular aluminum protective system available in multiple panel heights and lengths. Compatible components may be combined to create configurations for different excavation dimensions and jobsite requirements.

Depending on the intended application and applicable manufacturer data, ShoreLite Lite may be arranged as:

  • A two-sided trench box
  • A three-sided protective system
  • A four-sided protective system
  • A stacked panel configuration
  • A system raised with compatible leg kits
  • A tandem arrangement using approved components
  • A fixed-width system
  • An adjustable-width system

The 6-foot-high configuration may be used independently or incorporated into another compatible ShoreLite Lite arrangement. Any stacked, tandem, raised, adjustable, or multi-sided configuration must use the required Kundel components and comply with the applicable manufacturer’s tabulated data.

Spreaders and other accessories may be sold separately. Confirm the complete component list required for the planned inside width and protective-system configuration before ordering.

Critical Selection & Safety Factors

Is the ShoreLite Lite 6′ x 7′ Right for Your Excavation?

The exterior height and length of a trench box do not by themselves determine whether it is suitable for a project.

The selection process should consider:

  • Excavation depth and width
  • Soil classification
  • Surcharge loads
  • Groundwater and changing soil conditions
  • Traffic, structures, spoil piles, and equipment near the excavation
  • Pipe and utility-component dimensions
  • Required working clearance
  • Selected spreader type and inside width
  • Access and egress requirements
  • Lifting and placement equipment
  • The intended shielding or shoring configuration

The 6-foot panel height does not mean the box is limited to a 6-foot-deep excavation. It also does not mean the system can automatically be used at the maximum listed depth under every jobsite condition.

The complete protective-system configuration and applicable manufacturer’s tabulated data must be evaluated. The project’s Competent Person must inspect the excavation, classify the soil, evaluate changing conditions, and verify that the system is appropriate for the excavation and used correctly.

Depth Ratings & Tabulated Data

The listed maximum soil depth ratings are:

  • Type A soil: 33 feet
  • Type B soil: 18 feet
  • Type C soil: 14 feet

These ratings must be interpreted through the applicable Kundel tabulated data. The allowable depth may depend on the panel arrangement, assembled system height, selected spreaders, inside width, number of protected sides, soil conditions, surcharge loads, and intended shielding or shoring configuration.

The listed maximum depth rating is not the same as the height of the protected work area inside the trench box. Shield placement within the excavation and any allowable distances above or below the panels must comply with applicable safety requirements and manufacturer instructions.

Do not rely on a product-page depth rating as a substitute for the manufacturer’s tabulated data or a project-specific engineered design when one is required.

The Competent Person must verify the soil classification, inspect the excavation, account for site-specific hazards, and ensure that the complete system is assembled and used according to the manufacturer’s requirements.

Assembly, Lifting & Handling

Kundel describes ShoreLite Lite as a modular system with individual components that can be assembled by two workers. This refers to the component assembly process and should not be interpreted as permission to manually lift or move the complete 760-pound assembled system.

The complete trench box should be lifted, lowered, repositioned, and removed using approved rigging points and equipment with sufficient rated capacity.

Before each use, inspect:

  • Aluminum panels
  • Panel connectors
  • Spreaders and spreader adjusters
  • Legs, square connectors, and stacking components
  • Rigging and lifting points
  • Welds and structural areas
  • Locking and connection surfaces
  • Components for cracks, bends, distortion, damage, or excessive wear

Damaged or questionable components should be removed from service until they have been evaluated according to the manufacturer’s requirements.

Why Choose the Kundel ShoreLite Lite 6′ x 7′?

The ShoreLite Lite 6′ x 7′ combines a 6-foot shield height with the longest panel length listed for the ShoreLite Lite boxes in the Iron Lot catalog. It provides more longitudinal working room than the 6′ x 5′ and 6′ x 6′ configurations while retaining the modular aluminum construction and pin-less connection system associated with the ShoreLite Lite line.

This configuration may be a practical choice for contractors and municipalities that regularly perform utility repairs, service connections, localized exposure, and maintenance work requiring additional room for compatible pipe, fittings, valves, tools, and crew movement.

Projects with limited longitudinal excavation space may be better suited to a 5-foot or 6-foot-long configuration. The dimensions of the excavation and the equipment or utility components used during the work should be verified before selecting the 7-foot box.

The modular construction also allows contractors to expand their ShoreLite Lite inventory with compatible panels, connectors, legs, spreaders, and accessories for other excavation configurations.

Final selection must be based on the actual excavation, intended application, utility-component dimensions, complete system configuration, manufacturer’s tabulated data, and the requirements established by the project’s Competent Person.
