Description
10′ x 12′ Pacific Shoring MAPS Aluminum Trench Box
The 10′ x 12′ Pacific Shoring MAPS is a modular aluminum trench protection system designed for contractors who need a large, configurable aluminum trench box for underground utility, pipeline, municipal, and excavation work.
Unlike a conventional welded aluminum trench shield, the MAPS system is constructed from modular aluminum panels, corner posts, and spreaders. This modular design allows the system to be configured and adapted for different excavation requirements while providing contractors with a lighter alternative to many comparable steel trench boxes.
The 10′ x 12′ configuration provides 10 feet of shield height and 12 feet of panel length. The standard two-sided configuration priced here includes six adjustable spreaders with a 35- to 48-inch adjustment range. The total weight of the system as configured here is 2,415 lbs. Other spreader sizes are available to accommodate different trench widths and working-clearance requirements.
Why Choose the MAPS Modular System?
The MAPS design is particularly useful when contractors need more configuration flexibility than a conventional welded aluminum trench shield. Modular panel sections, corner posts, and spreader components allow the system to be assembled for different excavation layouts, including standard two-sided boxes and specialized three- or four-sided configurations.
Why Choose the MAPS 10×12 System?
The Pacific Shoring MAPS 10′ x 12′ configuration is a practical choice for contractors who need the height of a 10-foot-tall modular aluminum trench protection system combined with additional protected working length. Compared with the 10×10 configuration, the 12-foot panel length provides more room along the excavation for utility installation, pipe work, and other trench operations where additional working space can improve jobsite efficiency.
The system is built from stackable 2-foot-tall tongue-and-groove aluminum panel sections, allowing the shield to be assembled from modular components rather than a single welded panel structure. This modular design gives contractors flexibility to adapt the system for different excavation layouts and to use compatible MAPS components across multiple configurations.
The 10×12 MAPS can be assembled as a standard two-sided trench shield and can also support three-sided or four-sided configurations when equipped with the appropriate additional panels, corner posts, spreaders, and related components. Adjustable spreader options allow the system width to be selected based on project requirements.
For contractors comparing larger aluminum trench box options, the MAPS 10×12 offers a useful combination of height, extended panel length, modular construction, adjustable width options, and configuration flexibility. Final system selection and use should be based on actual jobsite conditions, manufacturer tabulated data, and evaluation by the project’s Competent Person.

Depth ratings and system configuration must be reviewed in accordance with the manufacturer’s tabulated data. Soil conditions, excavation conditions, surcharge loads, system configuration, and other jobsite factors can affect the proper selection and use of a trench protective system.
A Competent Person must evaluate excavation conditions and select and use protective systems in accordance with applicable OSHA requirements and manufacturer tabulated data.
Modular MAPS Construction
The Pacific Shoring MAPS system uses modular aluminum panels, corner posts, and connected spreaders or struts. The modular construction gives contractors more configuration flexibility than a conventional one-piece welded trench shield.
Depending on the system configuration and project requirements, MAPS equipment can be assembled in two-sided, three-sided, and four-sided arrangements. The modular design can be particularly useful for utility work, structures, pits, and excavations where a standard two-wall trench box configuration may not be the best fit.
